Not for a low miler one year old I couldn't.

And much as I'd like to go electric, it just does not work with my work life/demands as I am travelling around the country, often staying in hotels which more often that not do not have charging points, or even car parks in most cases, and can cover 400-500 miles in a day on occasion.

For example, I'm getting sent off to Belfast for 5 days in September, by ferry/car, I can do without the range anxiety in an unknown destination where the charge points will almost certainly not be convenient for where I need to be

Slightly OT, but was quite surprised that this even existed:

I'm at the other end of the country, but if you want to meet up (if not inundated with work), let me know. It would be an excuse to take the S8 . There are a few more members up near that neck of the woods.

I know are lots of charging points these days, it's just not practical for me at the moment.

When there are either

1. Charging points at every fuel station and or;
2. Realistic range is in excess of 600 miles

then, and only then, will I look at pure electric. Note I would consider a plug-in hybrid as thse have the ICE engine even if the battery is depleted

I will have some spare time as I am there from Weds until Thursday the following week, I won't be working at the weekend, it's just easier to stay than it is to come home and then come back again

I know with the impending anti-fossil fuel cutoffs, we are all going to have to use batteries for transport going forward. My commute is 80 miles each way, and once parked up, no electric points. They are going to have to let people work from home more, they don't seem to have an issue with some lads working from Bangalore five days a week.

I'll be either retired or very close to it by the time that happens, then I'm buying a caravan

Just found a 2016 A7 BiTDI with a very full spec including roof, ACC, lane assist etc, 17,000 miles. Little over budget but can make it way below monthly budget by including a balloon payment.

Waiting for dealer to end me a video...

Question:

Would you risk it with the mileage?

Audi S6 Avant

I would. Lots of great cars are often overlooked because of higher mileage, despite solid, evidence history.

Have you thought of a Golf R estate? Too small?

Not ruled them out, but not at the front of my mind either.

Car isn't too small, engine probably is though, I prefer the smoothness of a 6 or 8 pot

I'd be willing to bet that it would be a cold day in hell before you'd hit your target mpg in real world driving conditions in that.
