Default reversing camera not working

1 of many issues that has arisen since handing over the money to buy the car it seems...

ok, so I put the car in reverse and the screen switches over sutomatically to what should be the rear view camera with the smaller car graphic on the left.

only thing wrong is that i get a black screen instead of the camera picture.
I have looked in common faults but quite handily cant find anything for any of my particular problems...
what should i be looking at first?

These things are completely unlike any other car owned with modules for modules it seems!

Picture for reference when rear view camera is selected on its own.

You need to get a scan with VCDS.
Have you ever seen it work?
I see there are no guide lines, so it knows it is faulty.
The module is behind the left side boot trim just behind the rear seat but I don't think it's worth checking connectors as they lock in.

Il get it scanned in a bit and see what it says.
Never seen it working in the 3 weeks I have had the car and to be fair I didn't realise it had it as the last 2 S8's in the family didn't.

That's what it comes up as.
Any way to test the module itself on bench or not really?

Crikey, that looks pretty terminal.
Might be worth disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to reboot it, failing that, if it was mine I would replace the controller. It is about the size of a VHS tape and I got mine (when I retrofitted it) on ebay USA for ~£70

Ok cheers.
Is there anything I should do after re connecting the battery at all?
I'm sure I read on a thread about coding the new batteries to the car or similar, would this have any effect on that?

Is your TV working??
Video cable from the tuner goes to RVC and from RVC to the MMI Head, when reverse gear is selected RVC module switches the signal or sends if you dont watch TV at that moment to the video image from the camera.

Am I understanding this correctly?

Is there a fuse in the boot on the left for the RVC, should be, fuse checked??

Had a look but not sure if I have the right area. Is it in the left side where the navigation unit and bone amp are or further in right behind the seat??
Cheers
