WHat temperature does the guage show 90˚c?
If so, I wouldn't bother with the thermostat.
As you have VCDS, can you check in HVAC>Measuring blocks that the coolant temp is >80˚c and also check the various temps around the HVAC system.

Not thermostat then, run it through VCDS as advised, but I feel for you Andy, it must be very frustrating.
You will get there mate, just few more little steps and you'll be a happy man

Does anyone have the measuring blocks for the HVAC listed?

I do not get any information or units for those (All other system blocks I get what they are).

Just need to know what I am looking at here.

From another Audi but it seems that my 71 and 78 could be the G92 Potentiometer reading a little high. Though no fault codes given for the system, worth a clean or a hoover out?

Display group 003:

Temperature flap positioning motor -V68-

Display zone Meaning Explanatory Notes

1 Actual feedback value for the potentiometer -G92- (in the temperature flap positioning motor -V68-) Display value greater than “5” and less than “250” Maximum permissible deviation: 3 units from the specified feedback value (only in the range greater than 50 but less than 200)

2 Target feedback value for the potentiometer -G92- (calculated by the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87-) Display range 5 ... 250

3 Potentiometer -G92- value ascertained during “basic setting” and saved in the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- with the positioning motor in the “heating stop” position (the temperature flap directs the air flow through the heat exchanger) Display value greater than “5” and less than “50”

4 Potentiometer -G92- value ascertained during “basic setting” and saved in the operating and display unit for air conditioner/Climatronic -E87- with the positioning motor in the “cooling stop” position (the temperature flap directs the air flow past the heat exchanger)

Hmmm no faults with the flaps reported and they all seem to move and make some form of noise under VAGCOM output tests.

Was thinking it may be V71 or V68 but they do seem to move and make a noise though I am not 100% convinced I have perfect full range out of them.

Whilst playing and moving flaps I did for a second get hot air so it is there!

I even hoovered the vents and the sensor in the climate panel with no luck, also I checked the fuse and ensured the water pump and valve solenoids had some life and clicked with some juice applied to them.

Next step is take a closer visual look at some flaps I think....

Or burn the car to the ground and buy a D2

Assuming the HVAC modlule has it, have you run the basic settings at any point ?

My grey cells seem to think that is the flaps are uncalibrated, you need to do this to set them to right place so it sends the right air etc etc.

Worth a go, check ross tech etc see if they have a procedure, especially if you got air breifly when running output tests.

I defo know my D2 once lost all its heat and it was just a vagcom job. I've not get any reference material handy or I might have been able to give a more concise answer sorry

D3 does have a resting heater - You just operate the climate module with the engine off and it intelligently knows you need the resting heater...
