Fuel pump o-ring
I finally got my fuel pump assembly out yesterday and ran into a problem. I need to replace the big o-ring that sits in the groove of the top half of the fuel pump housing assembly. My fuel pump gasket kit didn't have that one. Is that o-ring still available to purchase? Also my fuel pump gasket kit didn't have the o-ring for the fuel sender cap. I did find a part number (4D0 298 135 B) for that which is called a repair kit where you get a new sender cap and o-ring but it's no longer available

So I'm guessing both o-rings are no longer available?

Probably not, but you can just use generic o-rings. I don't recall that they were anything special last time I had one in bits.
If you can measure ID and thickness any bearing supplier should be able to get them for you, or you'll be able to get them online (McMaster Carr or similar). I can probably measure them tomorrow, although I would measuring in metric, not freedom units. |

That would be great if you can get a measurement for both o-rings. I don't have the right measurement tool but I was able to get a eyeball measurement with a tape measure of the top half of the fuel pump housing assembly of 4 inches which according to google is 101.6 mm. Metric measurement is fine, I can use google to convert it.

69x2.5mm for the top one under the cap, 112x2.0 for the larger one in the pump body.

Here is a picture of the top half (on the left in this pic) of the fuel pump assembly which I'm referring to. MikkiJayne, the pump body you mention is this same one I'm referring to as fuel pump assembly? I just want to make sure before I place a order for the o-ring. I'm guessing these will work? this is the large o-ring and this is the smaller o-ring. |
