Mercedes SL55 AMG - Conversion
So... haven't stuck this up yet from what I can remember.
Last year I sold the M3 due to the rising costs of supercharger conversions, head gasket issues and finding an SL55 AMG that was just gorgeous. And decided I really didn't need the rear seats.... So I brought the SL55 on a 2005 54 plate with 68k. The car was standard when I got it with all the toys except strangely the parking sensors. But real men don't need parking sensors..... So as it was around June time, crank pulley was fitted, Johnson CM30 intercooler pump and Eurocharged heat exchanger and cranked it up from 476bhp to 542bhp. I can't remember the torque but will post the graphs. Temporarily fitted a supercharger pulley, boosted power to just 590bhp but it was getting far too hot. So the car was proceeded to be enjoyed for the entire summer and autumn through to November with the fantastic weather and then parked up over the winter period. Bodywork had a machine polish and I went to get the wheels refurbed as I believed them to be genuine. They wern't..... I wasn't best pleased! So I then brought some genuine Brabus 19" wheels. I tune cars, I do software. I don't understand wheels..... I thought they needed a simple refurb.... I was wrong... Badly!!! The wheels I sent down to Dav at Pureklas and they needed all new bolts, splitting, retapping etc. Almost ready on these and looking amazing! So the quest for more power was there, and after speaking to Weistec in the US and Acid at MSL Performance in Birmingham a joint project was born between us all. So last week I ordered: - Weistec M113k 3.0 Litre Supercharger Kit - Uprated 82mm Throttle Body - Kleemann Headers - XPipe Exhaust 3" - Quaife LSD - 650cc Injectors And some other bits! Give you an idea of a simular spec car - https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=yWk4tUYBhUc So.... watch this space. Car is going through a transformation, it was a quick car before. It's going to be certainly interesting when done!! |

Automotive porn.
My only concern would be the location of the air filter, as i dont see a cold air feed and it would be quite cosy in there. Nice car btw

Now that's the way that MB should have left the factory.

Very nice mate, I too have exactly the same car as my summer toy, same colour even (light grey leather with panoramic, distronic).... Performance must be immense, mine is standard (bar the centre boxes removed - sounds amazing) and the thing flies!!!!!.
Look forward to seeing the video clip! |
