A very funny noise.

I'm experiencing a very strange noise coming from somewhere in the engine bay but I'm having difficulty locating it. The noise is an odd, irregular phutting which I think only happens when stationary and then not all the time. I haven't heard it whilst driving but then I wouldn't be able to anyway. My view is it's one or more of the fuel injectors as these I replaced only a few week ago and this noise has only appeared since then. I've taken the fuel rail off and checked the fitment of the injectors in the fuel rail and the manifold and everything is fitting correctly but I'm still getting this noise. There is no change in the cars performance, it goes as it should. I'll try and take a recording and post it. I'm not using the car much at the moment as I use a hire car for work but hopefully I'll do something this weekend.
