Default Alarm Enable/Disable Audible Notification

I was googling and couldn't find anything to see is it possible to have the alarm set to "Chirp" when it's enabled?

Does anyone have that feature on their car?

You can do it, but you will need access to VCDS (Carista or ODBeleven may work, but I can't confirm).

Within VCDS, go into module 46 - Central Convenience. Click on Coding, and you will presented with the following screen, as well as a pop-up hint window. Make a note of the existing value you have (e.g. 0005885 in my case, which has it enabled), and then add 1024 (Anti-Theft Warning System Confirmation via Horn) to it. Then click on 'Do It!', and then exit out of VCDS as normal.

IIRC there is no chirp on the D3 A8 - it's a short horn toot or no horn toot.

Happy to be corrected.

Thanks Jimster, i meant to say a short hoot/toot or something from the horn. Anything audible to indicate that the alarm is activated.

I'll report back here on how i do with the audi dealers for change via VCDS on this (as I dont own one myself...)

Cheers again...

Probably better avoiding Dealer for this as I suspect they will charge you (probably a lot) for it, better to find someone on here in the register near you who could do it

VCDS is the very first tool you should buy, and it probably won't cost you much/any more than a dealer diagnostic session...………………..
e.g. https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCV23.html
Anyway, whereabouts are you?

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

It is a chirp from the alarm sounder, not the horn you use when driving.

Based on their username and a couple of posts where they mention pricing in Euros, I'd guess they were in Ireland, which would probably make me the closest (without requiring a ferry!) person with VCDS.
