i GENUINELY hope so, if not I'm a rather persistant person so they had better be ready for all eventualities.
I'll only share teh name with you Ian and Conan initially if there is an issue, if its all OK I'll leave it as it is. I must say, its been hard work so far but the guy reckons teh Co owner is teh guy on hols and is away at present. Fingers crossed.......

Update: after many hours of trying to get hold of him etc and many promised callbacks not being made I got hold of the technician/owner bloke
"That sounds like your flex plate - thats not part of the gearbox so will be 550 quid to fix" Sod that I thought If I am going to pay for it I'd rather a garage that I trust so I called Chester lot. He's going to listen to the sound clip I posted and ring me back.

car now droped off with repair shop,
interestingly Chester are so busy that they can't fit me in for 3 weeks, I need it long before then so did some more research. To be fair I also rang my local dealer. response from them " to drop the gearbox in one of them you need to take the engine out, you're looking at 1500 minimum." WTF do they do that. Lots of places quote ~ 400 quid to R&R a gearbox on one of these. why lie so blatantly? so car now in Rochdale being dealt with.

In there defence, the Audi handbook probably does say take the engine out, as the gearbox box is an absolute sod to get out without the engine out... Most experienced transmission places are used to this though, and they will likely loosen the engine and let it hang down just enough to give access.....
Its a shame Audi can't think outside the box sometimes....

I got the bad news this morning.....
Basically the gearbox hadn't been fitted correctly and as such its chewed the torque convertor and pump to bits and there is a shed load of swarf floating round the box. Only option now is a full recon which I've been quoted 2.5K including changing teh flexplate thing. I've no real option I guess at this point as the only other option is to strip it or scrap it. I'm guessing as bits its only worth at best a grand. Fixed it will have 12 months unlimited mileage warranty. either way I lose 2.5K, with one way I end up with a car that should be fine for another 3-4 years and I'll know the box should be fine if I keep the fluid services up with Chester. The other I have a grand in my pocket and no car. not really an option is it. Could have done without it as Mrs entwisi is due to drop our second little entwisi in 4 months. Better start siging up for some of this extra overtime thats going at work.
