I blame the RNS-D... You're not dreaming... The old concert head units did seem to kick out more Bas...

Doesn't the PF have extra tweeters too? Not that they'd help with the bass. Did tell you your PF was exceptionally bassy, much more then my Bose'd FL's.

That's it, the non Bose have 10 speakers. Ranj had retrofitted the non Bose speakers in his Bose setup though, so has 10 speakers with Bose.

low volume bass in FL (RNS-D) is not great, fine when you crank the volume up, but not good at low volume, I just installed a £40 head unit from Aldi in no one sons Punto that sounds better at low volume than the RNS-D, but then it is 10 years younger, it also does MP3, Bluetooth, and a whole host of other things that at my age I dont understand. I have looked at replacing RNS-D but as its double din its gonna cost around £1200, and in a car worth around £5k its hard to convince the other half that its a good investment, when you can get at least four pairs of very nice shoes for that money

One thing I clearly noticed when upgrading FL car with bose from RNS-D to RNS-E is *significantly* better sound. Bass is much better too.
I would say bose is "underutilised" in RNS-D cars. I don't know why...
