CV Joints
Either my offiside CV joint is on the way out, or someone is knocking to come in from under the car when I turn left at low speed over bumps :-)
So: Is this a home job to change them? Do I do just the outboard ones or the one tranmission end aswell? what sort of cash are they, and where do people get them from ? (new? used from A8? ) Ta

Knocking when turning smacks of control arms. Get a grip of each control arm and see if there is any movement at either end.
A second hand half shaft from A8Parts will be cheaper than new.

Sold on. 1998 1.8T A4 Avant FWD. Ming Blue (there's a theme here), PEX for the 97 S8. And a list of non VAG going back 40 years before I saw the light.

By control arm which part of the myriad of suspension parts do you mean? do you have a pic?
I was going with CV joint as I had an MOT last week, and thought can't be a ball joint end, surely, as they would have picked that up!? Maybe not..will investigate Last edited by harpersimon; 23rd April 2009 at 10:01 AM.
