Default iPod Dock in coin tray

A member on another forum I use had done this in his B6 A4 and I think it is excellent. I made one for the ashtray in my 8J TT and it was great for the iphone as it saved going in to the glove box every time.

Has anyone done it in an A8? Or even know if there's room in behind to get an extension wire down from the coin tray into the glovebox?

Very clever stuff
Is that just for charging or is it connected to AMI??

There's no AMI in a B6 but I think he retro fitted an aux connection. I'd be connecting it to the AMI in the A8 though. Just a 1m extension lead into the AMI tray then connected to the back of the dock. Just need to find a dock that will hold a 4S with case.

Any idea how easy it is to remove trim to gain access behind it and the glovebox?

Very easy, the thin silver (at least in mine car) trim just easily unclips, just pull it, glove box few screws around, bottom, top, side (take the fuse box cover off) and you'll have to take cd changer out as there is one screw and if you have ami them that out as they're will be one behind as well.
As always be careful with the wiring behind the changer

Had a look at it last night and it's not deep enough to hold a dock sadly.

Ash tray?

What if you have it so the Ipod is laid flat?

Would like it to be sitting up right so I could see the screen.

There's this, but not sure what angle it would leave the phone sitting at.
