Well, received the Battery Management ECU from A8 parts (thanks guys) and unfortunately this didn't solve my issue. So, I ordered a spangly new alternator and hey presto! She works

Not the part I wished for it to be as it was 5 x more expensive than the used ECU but at least I have my baby girl back

I've thought that my starter motor has been on it's way out for some time now, but having a new alternator on it spins up a dream!

So weirdly, this was due to the alternator guys, don't rule them out even if the computer scanners are reading V at the alt???

I thought it was actual measurement by voltmeter/multimeter not from the scanner

Couold be that it was providing 14v, but a crap current, both need to be checked for a battery/alternator.

Sorry guys-just seen the replies.

Thanks for all the "welcome back" messages

Glyn-you're right, felt so sorry for Carl & Dave at A8 parts trying to help me over the phone

Davie-I'd love to come along to one of the meets-but they are always a million miles away from me living in Kent-I drive for a living so I try to to drive when I'm off

When there is one more viable to travel to I will be there for sure

Nice to know you got it sorted - my problems seem to be echoing yours - having managed finally to diagnose the other front air shock as the leaky culprit this morning - I came out a few hours later to go to work and found the car electrically dead! Don't know what's wrong yet but suspect the battery - they don't last much more than 3 years with the heat out here.

On the positive side, the wife now doesn't want to drive my car because she doesn't trust it!
