Default Immobilizer

I have a problem when the car it starts it cuts out straight away.
The immobilizer light does not go out.I went to a normal garage who plugged it in did a re-set.This worked for a day, then back to the same problem.
I then took it a Audie dealer who then told me it would be a 1000 euros to repair the problem.
I just want to dis-arm the immobilizer Audie say they can not do this ,is it possible ???

This is a D2 I take it? If so it's about £10 for the part and a couple of hours labour at most. If you can confirm what car I'll find the fix and post you it, it's in the common faults sticky's if you want to look yourself

The immobiliser cannot be disabled, so in effect the dealer is correct. Depending on year the immobiliser is either part of the instrument cluster or an external module, the cars main ECU expects to be able to communicate with either and will not start without it.

The usual cause for failure is the pickup coil, as posted by Norretal if you post the year and model we can advise further.

Of course it can be disabled by modifying ECU software but dealers do not do those kind of things. You need to declare it to insurance company and some might refuse to insure, raise premium or not cover against theft.

I think it's this you need, it's a common fault, and exactly what happened with my D2 until I had the wire replaced

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...rereplace.html

If it isn't have a look at the "interior electrics repair sticky" in the D2 section and see if there is anything else that may help.

Good luck, hope you get sorted
