Immobilizer bypass
Obviously you cannot start and run the car engine without key in ignition due to immobilizer blocking it. There are several ways to work around this:
1. Remap ECU so that it does not look for start authorization from immo unit 2. Fit immo emulator instead of immobilizer that will always give start authorization to the ECU. 3. Fit immobilizer bypass unit which only authorizes start when remote start function is active. I did not like the first 2 because they compromise security more than than last one and insurance companies probably would not be too happy as well. 3rd however requires you to use spare key or transponder so if you do not have spare you will need to get one. I suppose leaving fully functional key in the car is a security risk as well if somebody knows about ita nd where it is hidden. If nobody knows then chances of somebody finding and using is next to none. But you can remove blade from the key to disable physical functionality or use just the transponder like I did. So I went for immoblizer bypass unit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRANSPONDE...item2c709b4168 and transponder : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ID48-T6-Tr...item256feb06e5 The bypass unit was not quite as sophisticated as I expected, basically it is extension cord with a switch in form of relay. I was expecting it to have some circuitry that amplifies the signal but only has 2 coils, 1 at each end and a small relay to complete the circuit when activated. Not really worth £12.99, especially considering I had remake coil by the ignition switch like posted before and the casing is to small to fit the Audi key. You are probably better off just getting a small relay, some wires and enameled wire. Here is basic diagram So when the remote start is active alarm unit will complete the relay activation coil circuit y connecting pin 18 to ground and relay will switch on the circuit with 2 coils transferring signals to and from the spare key. Coding extra keys or transponders This can be done either by yourself, auto locksmith, Audi dealer or independent specialist. If you want to do it yourself you need to get login for immobilizer, the biggest challenge is to get FL petrol D2 login, and I don't know if there is cost effective tool for personal use. 1994-1996 petrol D2's and diesel D2's from all years and D3's can be done by cheap tools like VAG Tacho and VAG Commander, 1997-1998 petrol D2's will need a bit more expensive tool, the cheapest one that I found to do the job is Super Vag K+CAN. FL D2's can be done only with the handful of tools like Tango or VVDI, but VVDI costs around $1000 and tango is $200 for the tool plus $1000 for the basic software licence.

I have attached operational manuals for both versions of the system. The only thing different between both is the touchscreen remote control, all the kit that goes in the car is the same. Any questions please feel free to ask. If anybody is considering one there are couple for sale on the e-bay(http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1500M-iFor...item3cdbcea935 & http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1500M-iFor...item3ceca1caee ), not by me and at a very high price. I can get them for less than half of that( listed @ £335 & £345 at the time of writing) but minimum order directly from supplier in Singapore is 8 units.
I am now moving on to install the second unit in A6.

Excellent, clear write up. Now all that remains to do is for me to start fitting mine! But you have made that all so much easier, Ainars
