R8 Experience
Finally collected last year's birthday pressie from wife of Audi R8 "experience". Eight laps of a circuit at the MIRA proving ground. Pleased with myself that everone else in the Lambo's, Astons & Ferraris seemed to be constantly holding me up! Very nice and gorgeous sound but it really brings home what a great car the S8 is. Yes, the R8 is faster and the handling / cornering is superb but I felt the difference in performance between and S8 and an R8 isn't as dramatic as the difference between most other cars I've driven (which include some decent BMW's & ur-quattro) and the S8. Oh yes, and the manual seat / streering wheel adjustment was a bit primative!
If anyone else has the chance, personally I wouldn't go to MIRA but stick to proper circuits as I've done before. The circuit at MIRA wasn't very large or challenging. Finally, if anyone out there has the funds to buy a used R8 check the previous owner wasn't "Everyman Racing"! Mike

i had a bit of a race with a R8 the other week (on my 'private race track' that runs from my house to my work
 )we were both traveling along behind another car doing 50mph i clicked it down into 'S' and waited for him to make a break for it, as soon as he floored it i stomped on the accelerator expecting to have my arse handed to me on a plate.... but to be honest we got 110mph before we caught another car and in that 50-110 he only pulled a small gap (if any) on me  i think i shocked him as when that car moved out the way he didn't bother trying to accelerate again amazing car tho, maybe he wasnt driving it properly
