I think it was probably more than that I can usually put all my weight(70kg+) at the end of 1m bar and it does not budge but with some rocking it does move. I have also had a case when I was younger and lighter that it would not loosen up even with all my weight rocking at the end of extension pipe over breaker bar. Eventually got it loose by resting the bar on ground and driving the car so that wheel turns and lifts car off the ground, have also broken couple of cheaper braker bars.

I had to do that ^ with a Beetle rear hub nut once. Three people hanging on an 8-foot scaffolding tube with a 1" drive breaker bar didn't budge it.
I have enough pie in me to break Audi hub bolts loose without any trouble though |

Sorry to go off topic... Reason I ask is I'm thinking of replacing my impact wrench which is 500Nm for the cordless DeWalt, rated at 950Nm. Although a good breaker bar is cheaper.

I have one of these but have not yet used it on a hub. Easily removed wheel bolts though and is very handy for caliper carriers etc

I have a Mac air impact and that just tickles hub bolts. I'd be impressed if a cordless could break them loose. It does help that they're bolts, and they pick up CV grease from the inside of the joint, compared to old VW hub nuts which sit outside and get rusty, but even so, they take a lot of effort.

Yeah a cordless wouldn't have a hope at that job. I was intrigued while browsing Screwfix with the claims of 950Nm.

Not quite that much Its rated at 1000Nm, but its quite old and running on an 8mm air line so I doubt its anywhere near that these days. I don't believe the ratings anyway - its all marketing BS since no one can agree on a realistic test for measuring them. If it was at full power in theory it should spin hub bolts out no problem but it just sits there and rattles. It'll take TDI crank pulley bolts out without a fight and they are usually over 300Nm, but not much more than that.

Looky what I found
Yes, thats a leather pack 3 dashboard, in black Its a rare combination for an FL of twist with black dash and door tops It even came with a Nokia 7110 While the dash and door tops are ok, alas the twist lowers are destroyed. If someone bought the car and wanted it as-is, this would be bad. However, you can guess from the thread this post is in what is going to happen next Twist alcantara headlining, which is nice This is the car - an Ebony Pearl FL1 which was thoroughly ruined by its previous owner. It has stood for many years and is sodden inside. The electronics are all full of water, the running gear looks like its been in the sea, and none of the doors open from outside so you have to open the windows wth the key and reach in. It looks aqua blue here, but thats road salt from the truck journey from Glasgow. Came with four flat tyres so getting it off the truck was fun I bought this unseen just for the dash, but it is saveable as the bodywork seems to be in good order and the engine runs well. The gearbox is unknown because the TCU is drowned but I'll put another one in and see what happens. It won't be getting the works with me though, because I don't have time or space for the stuff I already have! I'll be swapping out the interior for a standard black one, sorting out the soggy electronics and making it run and drive, and then it'll be going to a new home as a running project. I might make a thread for it if people are interested, depending on how far I get in to it. |

Unbelievable find!
An extended leather pack 3 in a car that doesn't deserve it. Super lucky! Dreams can come true

Not long before it's in one that really deserves and needs it though.
Weird colour combination though of Black with Twist..... Quote:
