Default Silverstone Classic

Hi There,

Went along to this on the Saturday and it was epic fun! A friend recommended it last year after we did Goodwood Revival.

It was much more laid back, much bigger place and as such there was room to move and do things and EVERYTHING was included, so you could just go in any of the open grandstands and down into some of the pits and everyone was friendly and chilled. Food & Drink was pricey but there weren't the massive queues.
It's more modern in it's outlook and there were many car clubs there with lots of different cars and quite a few modern things and not everything was pristine show room stuff, but normal cars!

Massive Porche and BMW clubs, lots of Fords and Fiats and the usual strange and wonderful.
However I didn't see much Audi stuff there. There was an RS Club stand which had a few bits, with RS's and S's but the closest I saw to an 8 was an R8 which was somewhat disappointing.
A couple of friends were there with cars on days and it seems you get discount tickets to exhibit which could be of interest???

Highly recommended just a bit of a Car fan though!

Lee

If you'd been any of the last 3 or 4 years you'd have seen my S8 there, depending which days. Couldn't make it this year.

Usually I join the AudiSRS group, which I guess is the one you spotted, though I sometimes only go for the Friday.
Last year I was there all 3 days, but in the Retrorun section; that got me on a parade lap as well.

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

I was there Friday with the Club Lotus bunch. A very good event as always, but I thought less attended than previous Fridays!

AudiSRS were indeed there, but a very small turn out. One R8, one B5 S4, a B7 RS4 and an 8V RS3. Not like some previous years Andrew!

If you just wanted to see an 8 there though, I can help.

2015....

I had heard that the heat made Friday a touch quiet.

I think the emails I've got are touting it to have been the best attended overall, but i've little to personally to compare with, apart from Goodwood, that was too busy and little over comercialised.

On the whole we preferred Silverstone despite being less retro, it just seemed better spirited, more enthusiasts for enthusiasts!

Whoop an 8
