I'll probably have a minimum of a wash and dry too Neil, depending on time and how dirty it gets on the journey(s).

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Talking PMS Staff

As a minor detour on the thread (another) I'd like to more formally announce that a8parts have 3 key members of staff in attendance this year, in addition to David and myself:

Carl and Alex, in their Golf R and S3 respectively, who man the workshop and are a dab hand at taking anything vag apart with the upmost care, and sometime they can put stuff back together too. I believe they might be packing a few more horses under them bonnets than the brochure suggests, so if they should leave you behind don't be too upset

And Katy, in her recently acquired TT, who is new to us this year, but makes up half our despatch team responsible for getting parts wrapped, packed and out of the door on time, every time

Whilst they're not in 8's, don't hold it against them, as they all know way more about the 8 than you'd first credit them with

I am not going to make it guys sorry

I took mine out for it's first drive after the rebuild and the gearbox is just off with the fairies. Slipping, slamming in to gear, very slow to change, bogging the engine down and rpm jumping about at constant road speed. Oh, and something is making a whirring noise pulling away from a standstill (torque converter?). I've checked the oil level twice so I don't know what's up with it. I'll check again tomorrow but I doubt that's the problem.

Six months of work and considerably more than its value in parts and it's barely driveable. Gutted.

Apologies if this is teaching granny to suck eggs, but was the gearbox oil at the right temp when checked? It is really critical, and often overlooked causing all manner of slipping an cavitating noises...

Shame its not gonna be ready. If its any consolation, its nearly midnight and mine is in pieces still, just popped on here to grab some info before I carry on into the night
