My thoughts are that you need to choose a course of action:
  • Cut your losses, chalk it up as an experience and sell it on friday
  • Persue the garage you think are responsible, let them tear down or cover the cost yourself and hope to get the repairs covered directly or via the courts. In this case you nee dto keep the car until it is fixed.

If you sell it as it stands and take option one, then you need to forget about the second bullet all together, it is one or the other in my eyes.....

Ye, I think the decision is largely up to what the outcome will be if they decide (correctly or incorrectly) that this was a 'normal' failure / wear & tear issue.
