my experience of doing this on a D2 is that you need roughly TWICE the capacity to flush out the old fluid properly as you will lose some of the new fluid flushing out the old - it's impossible to only flush out old fluid, so I'd say you need to buy double the capacity

Here seems cheap for ZF LG6 fluid, they also do a Febi and a Meyle which are cheaper and claim to be the same. Last edited by snapdragon; 14th January 2013 at 11:03 AM.

like when i change engine oil on my 04 polos, i put cheap oil from your local parts shop because i make sure it gets changed every year regardless, so by the time the goodness has ran out, ive already changed it. you could say better oil less changes but its just like audi saying lifetime ATF never needs to be changed. however i did put castrol sport in my mini because of the power and that still gets changed out every year, and in my m3 i used millers which is the best but i still changed that out twice in the year i had it. i guess you can just tell when it needs doing and what works best tbh. so i guess if people find blue is better than gold without trying new gold in the first place thats just dopy. however if they have tried gold and then moved to blue and feel a difference then good for them. hope i cleared that up lol and as for these gearboxes bludy hell is all i have to say lol

I have a voucher from a8 parts for a service kit oil and filters ect.. But i have not long done a full service. I wander if they will give me a gearbox service kit instead. Must work out the same price wise on a w12 as

Thats cheap !!
So is the W12 oil really that much more expencive is it ? Whats the difference .... It has the same gear box as the V10 S8 ....is there special ATF then for the s8 and W12 compared to the 4.2 ?

Would like to get my 2005 W12 gearbox serviced as she's done nearly 150k now!
For the hard of understanding can someone please detail the exact fluid needed and roughly how much I will need? And what other consumables might I need, gasket(s), filter, etc. Oh and part numbers for everything would be perfect!  Thanks & kind regards, -=Glyn=-
