Good news on the pass

Ref handbrake - when in the garage I used to use P alone, but anywhere other than a perfectly level surface I'd use the handbrake, as I don't like loading the transmission lock on the gearbox (or more particularly the force required to move the gear selector out of P if there's any load on it)

Likewise. I'll always put the handbrake on before releasing the foot brake so it doesn't load up the parking lock.

Ditto. Especially in winter I dont want the slush etc to freeze around the caliper mechanism. Just using the P on a slope does seem to put some strain on the mechanism.
