Default No 'CAR' setup

Bought an '03 3.7 Quattro a few days ago, and when i select 'CAR' on the MMI the top left 'USER' option does not appear on the screen so, obviously, its removing many of the vehicles options. I've tried resetting the MMI but it still only has 'HANDBOOK' SYSTEMS and VERSION.

Any ideas ? ?

Do you have the fingerprint button? I think the User option only works with that

check the software version against what's been posted elsewhere on the forum - someone was in a similar position to you since I joined the forum and updates took quite a while to upload!

I don't have a D3 so can't help on the specifics I'm afraid, although can point you to someone who sells cloned nav discs that will update the firmware too, if you have nav.

i have the latest firmware, so unlikely to be that. PsYcHe has the more likely explanation of fingerprint system.

i imagine if you tell the car that it has the fingerprint system with vagcom the menu will apear, but youl forever have an error code

so what are we missing, whats under that "user" menu

Yes it does have the fingerprint system, according to the MMI handbook, i have to enter 'CAR' then 'USER' to enter new users, delete old users as well as the seat/mirror/steering wheel position etc for each individual user, as it is, everything moves to someone else's setup, whic is kind of a pain in the arse.

In the 'settings' options, is the fingerprint sensor turned off and the key turned on for positions?

Though, where are you? we could maybe have someone nearby do a scan so look for errors, could be the fingerprint system is faulty.

Thats my problem, to enter 'settings' i need to select 'user'

I presume it must be on, as everytime i unlock the car everything starts motoring around. Unfortunately i live in the middle of nowhere, all the way out in anglesey.

PsYcHe was reffering to the settings menu, ie CAR > Settings > ....

the fingerprinting has some settings in there. if its set to Key the car picks up its settings in a different manner to the fingerprint profiles
