Default Building true dual exhaust

Hey guys, among my many projects of late is a dual exhaust build, 2.5 inch. I'm using an X-pipe (crossover) by Magnaflow, as well as high-flow (100-cell) catalytic converters by MBS (Mandrel Bending Solutions) and Magnaflow mufflers. I'm using pipe and Mandrel bends by MBS. I'm using V-bands to attach the exhaust for quick removals. I'm reusing stock hangers and modifying the original tabs for use on the car. Entire exhaust will be TIG welded. I'll post pics to where we are now, and I'll continue updating as the build continues. The gent in the photos is my friend John who is assisting and welding.

80% complete, sounds absolutely horrid. I'll post more pics, but I'm looking into different boxes to use. Very raspy right now.

Another update: should be complete early this week. I'm using a set of mufflers by "Pypes" now that are chambered rather than straight-through. Much better sound, slightly American Domestic V8 in nature (think the new "Coyote" 5.0 used in 2012 Mustang GTs). I was hoping for something more refined sounding, but it is good, just not 100% what I wanted. I'm 80% satisfied I'd say. Complete photos and info will be up shortly.

What mufflers did you use? Flowmasters? I've done a few with "turbo" mufflers, and it was not too bad, and it was cheap, but it was on a 81 Camaro too. (Dual turbo mufflers under the car, and then into a "stock" style duel inlet/outlet muffler that sits vertical between the gas tank and rear body panel, and then dual outlets.)

My 73 Camaro with a single pipe, still was faster! Love the 80's CA emmissions rated cars.. My buddies 81 with the 4 barrel, was slower than my 73 with a two barrel, log manifolds, and the "stock" style single pipe out exhaust. (mine was much more fun on long trips too, no drone, and it still had a nice V8 burble when you got into it.)

I was cheating however, I did have a taller than stock air filter, and flipped the air filter cover over... LOL The intake roar was nice that way...

Doh'! Just re-read your post, and you listed the Flowmasters....

Curious too if you removed the front cats? And just have the cats you show? (That is what I'd like to do, get those dang hot cats away from being so close to the engine, and adding heat there where it's not good for wires etc, but is good for emmissions and quick cat light off....) I think my car would pass with just a single set of cats, and while I might have to move some O2 sensors around to get the ECU happy, it might pay of in both sound, heat control, and power and fuel economy. (Fuel economy alone would pay for it now that we are paying about 4.00 per gallon at the pump... ) Yes, I know you guys in England are bent over by your taxes more than we are, but dang, this fuel situation here in the USA sucks when just a few years ago, I could buy gas at under 2.00 per gallon.

Hey! Let's just print more money, I bet we can get to 6.00 per gallon gas!

Your gonna like the sound But if your planing to only run one muffler pr. pipe you might have to run a muffler insert. I run with stock cat's and two mufflers pr pipe without x-pipe, and i'm going to dp a 3 disc muffler insert to get the drone down a bit. (Also running 2,5" all the way.

By the way, the muffler's i use are 120x250mm.

I know this is rather an old thread but I'm just wondering if there is any update on this? Very interested to see how it turned out. Also, 71camaro, have you removed the flexi joints from the exhaust completely?
