I don't think I could resist the Michelin PS4S next time around, although it would mean going to the 265 width. That has the advantage of soothing my OCD a little by sticking to the factory spec, but I think the little extra rubber on the profile helps (at least in my head).
I did go up to 275 as the 265 looked stretched slightly on the rims.

265s look really crap on 9J, stretchy and making wheel look weird especially with a considerable wheel arch gap on D3s, I always put 275s on 9J, plus it gives you much better rim protection

The ETRTO handbook figures for wheel and tyre combos do suggest that Audi tend to fit tyres at the narrower end of the scale for the width of the wheel.

Haven't got the info to hand today, but I can easily check what width tyres are considered acceptable for a given wheel width and tyre profile if anyone wants to know?

I had similar issues with Michelin tyres on the front axle of a Q7 when they were about half worn. Michelin replaced all 4 as a goodwill claim and the same thing happened with the replacement set. Have not bought Michelin since.

In short, I found them grippy, quiet and predictable - everything I want in a tyre. I posted a little more in Marcin's thread a moment ago:

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....1&postcount=28

I was a little sad when Goodyear moved away from their old 'V' tread pattern when they moved to the GSD3 (which was a taller 'V' shape), but when I fitted them to my Cav, I couldn't believe how much quieter and grippier they were. These new ones are a step up from that, although I'm testing them on a different car, so I can't say that conclusively.

I put Uniroyal Rainsport 3's on my A8 4.2 FSI. Very stable and good grip when wet and even to an extent in snow/sleet. Not noisy, feel quite soft so maybe they wont last *that* long but cost around 110gbp per corner. I wouldn't bother putting a hyper sports tyre on a big bus tbh

Very nice Del. I hope you enjoy the new tyres.

Are those original Audi valve caps?
