vent temperature sender
Hi guys in my quest to solve an air conditioning problem....where my car just sends hot air through my driver's side....I was wanting to pull the temperature sender to test it
Its a bit of a tight squeeze to get to it...but was wondering if anyone had experience in getting this sender out.... the picture appears to suggest one just twists it and pull...is this correct????

Never seen a temp sender fail - I'd check the measuring blocks of the HVAC unit with Vagcom first to see if its wildly off before delving behind the dash ?

temp sender
Ian u were right...for my rear blind install i pulled the side trims....so was just a case of having the guts to twist n pull....did it this evening....checked it by measuring the resistance and it was fine....
why would the driver side vent only blow hot aiir...regardless of the temp on the climate control//????

Defrost fine...but burning the driver
I wouldn't mind if there was frost on the window..but right now everyone else in the car is cool and I m sweating.....so got to sort this problem
out... Does anyone know which motor flap controls the air through the drivers side and if it is possible to control the motor flaps through vag com????

In vagcom run an output test on the HVAC unit - It will move every flap and test every sensor - Should point you in the right direction

Oh no.....
Well I had a nose around the dash today.....
I learnt alot::: 1...found all the flap motor for most of the air vents 2...found the air channels for the driver side vents 3...found that the flap motor for this vent is tucked up under the dash and behind the speedometer 4...found out that i think my dash has to come out to get to this flap And i stopped there...... so now that i have to pull the dash to fix the problem....I will take my time and decide on what upgrades to go with in the meantime....

there is a secret way of getting into the controls for all the vents ect.... and you can recalibrate them back to zero and start it up again and track down that you may have a flap that has opened and wont go back to cross over to cold you can play with each induvidual motor with this secret menu
with ignition on (engine running or not) and climate control on, press upper vent button on driver's side and recirculate button simultaneously. The code # will appear on driver's side temp window and associated value appears in passenger's side temp window. You can scroll through codes 1-149 with "+" or "-" buttons on drivers side. Below you'll find the best reverse engineered list of code designations and associated value numbers. This is all for Facelift D2 A8/S8 For each line in the group below, first address: actual flap position, corresponding to field 1 in the display group second: specified position as a percentage of open, can be changed with the fan -/+ buttons. These values persist after returning from Defog.
