Sooo much cleaning...

But, after many hours and late nights and the interior is 99% back together

I deep-cleaned the boot as well because that was smelling rather musty. It has a water leak through the tail lights I think so they need to come out and be investigated.

No error lights!!!

First thing I spotted as well. Looks like a case of "not fitted yet and don't want the wiring to disappear so I'll cable tie them". Brilliant idea.

Maybe that's part of the 1% left to do.

Looking great though

Looks amazing, over £2K in parts (at excellent rates by the looks of it) and probably 150 hours of work by the time it's finished.

1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Exactly that They were both broken, so I removed the old switches in order to replace them, and only then realised that the tags had fallen off the wiring I need to check the diagrams to see which is which and then I can put good switches back in.

Its a very long way from finished! At the current rate I'm estimating 250-300 by completion

Still to do:

Finish the lower interior
Replace head lining (doesn't smell any more but its scruffy)
Re-fit the boot trim
Reinstate aircon
Exterior wet-sand and machine polish (pro detailer)
Full brake refresh - 4x calipers, 4x discs & pads
Engine-out service and reseal
Replace steering rack
Front suspension refresh
Rear suspension refresh
Probably something interesting with the stereo

Once it has an MoT it'll become a rolling restoration. I'll iron out the little niggles as they come up, and the big stuff will be weekend jobs in between other work.

Mea Culpa! I was (incorrectly) assuming that MOT was pretty much the final act.

Out of interest, what is this destined to become? I recall earlier you said it was now yours but it's going to be too good to be a "daily" - or is it?

Normally yes, the MoT is the last step before they return home, but with this one being a slightly longer term project the work so far has been simply to get it roadworthy and driveable. With the exception of the interior, mechanically it is now in the state I normally receive them, ie working and driving but in need of some attention.

Parts prices are based on Prestige's pricing for used items, although most are coming from my own stock. New stuff is mostly coming from Autodoc.

I bought it from Bert because a long term rolling resto was the only viable way to save it, since its the last known example of Avus and extended red. It'll be going to a new home when its finished
