Question Crazy alarm: door sensors?

Hi. As I am driving at the moment, the roof courtesy light is pulsing on and off, as if it has detected an open door. When I close and lock the car, the alarm is now regularly going off. (Thankfully the siren isn’t working …job for another day!). If I then unlock the car with the fob, the interior light comes on, as you would expect, but when it fades, it is pulsing again, even with the car unoccupied.

I have a suspicion that the car thinks that the front passenger door is constantly open. This started happening after my elderly father decided to use his size 12 to push the door open, cracking the speaker grill This may be unrelated…

What can I do to check/replace? His doors the car know the doors are open?

Thanks,
Zip

Any indication on the instrument cluster that a door is open?

The rear interior light can cause odd stuff to happen with all the interior lighting. Its made up of lots of bent bits of sheet metal clipped together and things can go a bit haywire when its gets bad connections.

Possibly the door latch itself which has a microswitch for open/closed.

The central locking module can be very difficult to troubleshoot unfortunately.

+1

I fixed ALL of my weird problems with or related to that unit eventually by re-soldering all the joints on the little PCB inside it, several had failed to a greater or lesser extent causing all sorts of weirdness.
It drove me mad for ages, there's undoubtedly a boring thread on it here somewhere...….

Edit, here: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9097 Hope it helps.

Question

Not has a chance to dismantle the rear light yet.

Quick question….how does it actually pop out of the roof please?

Also….had to check manual. Figured there must be a way to lock the car without enabling the alarm. Instructions say you need to lock the car with the key in the drivers door lock, and open and close it twice within 1 second…

The rear light does indeed just pop out. Either front or back edge drops down first, can't recall which, just try both and one will come out without a lot of force.
