Depends how long the box is, I think Yodel does not take longer then 120cm. And if you do not want to wait around at home for collection all day long you drop it off at Parcelshop with Hermes

I get almost everything delivered to my work address. But Sergey has a quote from the Post Office - it's fits through their 'magic letterbox' thingy, so it's not too bad at all.

I've used collect plus a few times: http://www.collectplus.co.uk/ very flexible as you can choose store (for collection) or address delivery.
Weight limits quite high, especially for store collection.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Tend to agree with you, plus a few more as well. However, that's only because I live in Northern Ireland, which results in an least an extra two days waiting. I've even had to go around various dropoff points trying to locate a parcel, because one of their drivers couldn't be bothered delivering it. Took a week to find it.

I tend to stick with Post Office/Parcel Force as being quicker and more reliable, and because I live in Northern Ireland, cheaper as well, which is just another reason for other couriers to stick the arm in.

AVOID Hermes, honestly. My very good mate Glen who was a manager for them (left cos he couldn't watch this sh1t anymore) told me pretty shocking stuff. Common practice was overloading the cages to keep the cost down and most of the time there was to much stuff in them so common practice was two guys on top of the cage jumping and squashing stuff down to make it fit.

I've used Parcelforce on many occasions and always 5 start service.

But I use Parcel2Go most of the time.
My absolute favourite is UPS Access Point. UPS now has signed lots off big retailers as their drop off point inc shops like Brantano and other big chains open for longer hours. Basic price gives you quiet a lot kg's and volume of the parcel, and its a next day service.
