Obvious really, people around the Southeast are so rich and change cars for new so often that they never get anywhere near needing such services.
As for the "canny" Scots and Devon/Cornwall, well.....

2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

So bloody annoying

Scott, oil change at yours, stay overnight (I don't drink and and drive as I spill to much and don't like to waste alcohol), then trip over to mine for a software update (few spare beds, tea, coffee and beer in the fridge as well)

I will try to spend some time this week on research

How much is all the kit?

Why don't we all invest and just pile round someones house and do it?

There's a place in Bristol that will do the software update for £100.
Oil down here, software in Bristol and home. lol

Another source of variable-converter-clutch-compatible, fully-synthetic Pentosin ATF1 @ £9 a litre.
They do Lifeuard 8 @ £31/l and Lifeguard 6 @ £15/l

Seems you can buy them second hand for decent money

Might be worth me doing.. aswell as full A8 servicing ect might be worth me learning how to use this and do it on my own cars first ..

You mean I cannot phone up my local Audi dealer and say:

"Hello, I have an Audi A8 D3 can you please service the gearbox and carry out the requirements in Technical Service Bulletin 2013023/1 please"

"Of Course sir that will be £150 and we will supply an R8 courtesy car for you"

Daviesbike, That's the unit.
What's the prices are they going for?

Sir WIll, nope. Apparently Audi do not and will not service out gearboxes.
Since the main dealers are franchises they can do it off their own back with no back up from Audi.

I'm going to print that technical service bulletin out and take it to Audi and see what they say.
EDIT: Reading it, its Audi of America, I doubt that will have any standing for the UK side of it?
