Default Overhead light console removal.

Can anyone please post how to remove the front and rear overhead light consoles please. I have bought LED bulbs as an upgrade however the actual bulb holders are not the strongest and I have managed to break one in the front and 1 in rear. I now need to remove the consoles and replace the holders. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a place to power a dashcam without having to bring a wire down the a-pillar. I thought about using the circuit for the On Star which I have since disconnected at the fuse panel because the green LED was very annoying when driving at night.

I've managed to remove the light covers and fascia. However on page two of the guide above, it states,

Roof electronics control unit -J528- must be reencoded after renewing.

Does this mean I have to use VCDS to reencode the roof electronics control unit if I remove the rest of the electronics?

I do not have VCDS so I don't want to go any further if I need to.

Thanks!

If you mean when you just physically remove the console from the car, then no, you don't need to code it. That would only be necessary if you were to replace it with another unit, as there are other features of the car that this console needs to be 'aware' of.
