Default A8 MMI Update - A Walkthrough

Having recently added an AMI to my A8 I needed to complete an update to the MMI as the version on my car (2210) did not support the AMI.

I thought it may be useful to add a walkthrough as info across the net is somewhat fragmented.

It took me approx 1.5 hrs to complete from start to finish.

Hope somebody finds it useful and if anybody finds any omissions let me know and I'll update the original.

Sorry it's a bit of a long winded process to download but I'll try and find somewhere else to get it hosted

Godders,

Thanks for the excellent write up. I have used the power of the mighty Uber Librarian and edited your post after uploading the PDF to the forum library. It will be a bit easier now. Added it to the sticky as well.

Agree with the above comments - excellent post!

Other than 3d maps and AMI, what other benefits are there of doing this upgrade?

Many thanks.

Yea, that's my question too. My '8 has 3D Maps and I can load 6 CDs all MP3 format music so that's hours and hours.

What would be the AMI benefit to me?

If you have the MP3 CD changer, then fitting AMI doesn't do a whole lot I suppose, but it does fix bugs in the Bluetooth and various other bits n bobs.

Thanks Psyche,

That's about what I thought however my Bluetooth works with my IPhone or Ericcson nae bother - all the bits I need work including putting someone's name and telling the Nav to take you there.

Doesn't half make you lazy!
