MMI BT Phone Update
Afternoon Folks
As you may recall from previous posts I have updated the MMI and managed to successfully retro fit the AMI despite Audi's flat refusal to help. One thing that I hadn't managed to resolve was the fact that whilst the BT system links with my phone and works reasonably well, it never re synch's when getting back in the car after switching off, and the phone book and contacts etc doesn't download. Following some suggestions from forum members I thought I would give this another go, but as you know you need to set aside some time. So today was the day. For eas I took a few pictures. After running through the update as norm discu one now does nothing so on to disc two this starts the update and shows this screen after saying yes to the update etc. Followd by this alternating for what was nearly 2 hours! Just the number 1 changing Eventually I cancelled it and restarted the MMI BT was same as before no change. I tried the update again and again and during one attempt got a note saying the update could comtinue as the device was on? No pictures of that but I took a snap of this screen which shows the details of the BT system I think Any one have any ideas what I should try next, I am at a loss. BTW this was the same with both my Nokia E71 and now the Iphone4. Just makes it a pain to keep having to link the phone everytime I start the car and have to input the code, also dialing out is difficult as no memories show on the screen! You can see by the time display how long I have been at it! need a lie down now Cheers Glyn |

it does take ages.. I'd try it again make sure the bluetooth is off on your phones too. The BT kit is notoriously hard to update.

NO mate thanks though. Spoke with Craig from tclstnav and he reeled off the correct part no. Got it for a few quid. After that, nice quick installation. No probs!

Godders,
Thanks so much for the post. I followed your instructions and it all went through first time. |

Update: When I first ran the discs, the BT module was not registering. The ran disc 2 again (took much longer than 1st time around), and the BT started working. There was no phonebook, but i had already resigned myself to that.
This morning, the phone connected automattically and all of a sudden I can see my phone book, too (I have an Ipone4). |

Just checked and it would seem I have an old version on my car
So what are the advantages of the upgrade?

Some better reliability, some sound system updates, and you'd be on the latest version You've got the 'big' updates for most stuff (3D satnav, AMI usage), main one would be the phone kit, makes it a bit more stable.
