^^

Yes, that’s also been my understanding and was mentioned by the MOT tester to me.

Seems like a nice quiet cat with no rattles and very low emissions

I guess it wasn't a vorsprung duck

Mine passed the MOT too, but had a warning on tyre edge close to legal, on rears
Here we go again D2 eating tyre edges. I had a thought, maybe I need to keep them inflated above 32psi? despite what the fuel cap says?

I’m not so sure, it makes a bit of a racket when it’s cold outside

I keep mine around 38psi which seems to work for me. I’ve got Michelin’s all round which are wearing very well after 7k Miles over 2 years. I think I could do another 2 years on these at this rate.

And another year has gone by and another MOT pass, eventually...….

Couple of observations which are hardly a surprise (Diff leak and worn brake pads) but it failed "Do not drive until repaired!" due to a cracked 20" FE wheel.
Potholes strike again, and the crack actually was in a previous repair (from the previous owner of the wheel, not me)!

Thanks heavens for the full-size spare, for a small amount of extra cash (offered by me, they didn't want anything) they checked the spare, swapped it over and issued a re-test pass on the spot.

Straight over to the local wheel specialists and they say it should be all fixed Monday lunchtime.

Well done on another clear MOT, but was intrigued about the re-test. So intrigued that I decided to look up the rules for re-test in Great Britain, and from what I can find, because the car didn't leave the premises (or within 10 tens), it is done for free.

For a similar scenario in Northern Ireland, we would have to pay £18.50 for the privilege, which would involve leaving the building, parking up, go into the office and booking a re-test, and hope they would do it straight away.

On a much lighter note, I just put the S8 through the MOT on Sunday. A pass with no advisories, but a bit hairy. Our MOTs are done in government run buildings, and go through four sections, which cover the various aspects of the test. The tester does the driving after the second section and we proceeded to the third one, which are automated testing machines that test the brakes and the suspension. He put the front wheels on the rollers and tested each of the front brakes in turn. He then 'attempted' to move the car forward to get the rear wheels onto the rollers, and we ended up about 20 feet beyond them before he got the car stopped. Just as well the buildings are long.

Yup retests are usually free (unless significantly delayed) and I think they only have to look at the failed item even if its not "fixed on the premises".
