You can use shampoo / water but some shampoos can contain stuff that 'might' break down or dissolve the clay so maybe best to stick with a clay lube.

Some clay systems are happy with just water (or with a small amount of soap), but some need Quick Detailer which seems to apply to these ones. If the weather is OK, I might have a bash at mine this Friday as I'm away cycling this weekend.

I used quick detailer at first and then mate said use water.
I tried it and it had the same results. Thought I'd save my £10 and stuck with water. lol Someone used soapy water with this Mitt. Looking to see what others use and recommend.

It seems that most people recommend the detailer or soap but mainly the detailer with the mitt.
I guess cause its different to a normal clay bar it will react differently with just water as lube.

I picked one up Monday from halfords with 2 bottles of autoglym quick detailer which lasts fairly well even on a car the size of the '8
 Might have a go at the wife's a6 as that's not been clayed in years so should make for a worthwhile job!
