I don't get mine back until next Wednesday - the bloke that sorts out the refurbs was on holiday for a couple of days - Aarrgh

I have decided to have the TPMS removed and replaced with metal racing valves (don't ask me why they are called racing valves). The batteries are failing and I cannot sink another £500 into the car at the moment with the door respray and full machine polish and wax system the body shop are doing just to get the pressures.

I will also be asking whether I could get away with a de-badge while he machine polishes. This will be done on the Monday before the meet so it is very much to the wire.

All the jobs I have been meaning to do since I bought the car, finally getting done.

I am so pis*** off right now, I can't even speak

Paid for it as I was fuming and had to get out from there before I do something stupid (I am very an@l about the wheels and what I want)

This is how they looked before

I said no darker or lighter colour, just like for like as it was a standard gunmetal.
Look at the picture above and compare the colour of the caps and the actual wheel.

Now look at the new colour, compare caps with the wheel.
(wheels are a bit dusty but...)

Not only that I need new caps now, BUT I can't match the colour as they are not black, not gunmetal !!!!!

Fully chromed Audi ones would much the polished face but can't find anything in this size !!!!!!!!!
I don't like advertising wrong product, but at this stage I would fit even chrome caps with S or RS or even A1 writing on them as long they are chrome and right size.

Off now to take the wheel off and measure the caps as I get 68mm outside diameter which just makes no sense
After 4years of knowing the guy I lost any trust in him, he could actually **** *** now
(and yes I do have a temper problem when something I'm an@l about goes wrong, my apologies)

Marcin, deep breaths mate, deep breaths. I honestly dont see what your upset about but the pictures may not tell the full story.

Have you now got one wheel a different colur to the rest or were they all done again. if they are all done then I wouldnt worry about it.

The variation on the centre caps is so slight its hardly noticeable.

If its all four wheels I would not worry.
It looks like a quality finish and loving the colours in the flake.

Del, I've done like over 100 deep breaths so far and now I'm calm
Cheers Scott
All wheels are same colour.
Many if not all of you will think, what a princess, drama queen, but you know what?? I know it sounds like that, but you wont believe how an@l I am about blending dark wheels on a 8 until something like that happens.

I was telling Jim about how easy is to make dark wheels look chavy on A8, and I think previously I achieved optimal look with the original colour, I think colour of the car blend in nicely with the wheels, not to much contrast.

Now, the wheels are very dark, going almost into black.
I didn't ask huge thing, just said to finish them in same gunmetal, not much brighter or much darker than it was, a very reasonable request I think.
And it wasn't an unusual colour either, just gunmetal on the end of the day.

I'm over it now, but...it bothers me.

In the shadow they look OK, in the day light not so much. I'm against tyre shine and now I will have to start using it so the tyres dont look so ''bright'' (contrast) where previously without tyre shine everything look perfect.

Quality is very very very good, finish is almost fantastic, is just not even close to original which what I was after.

Pictures don't tell the truth story!!!!

This one may

Original color, way much brighter

New, way much darker, close to black, but quality is really really good

I guess its a personal taste thing and your right to be annoyed if its not what you want, but if its any consolation I think they look nice from what I can see in the pictures.

Still waiting for my centre caps back from wheel refurbers

Well, they do look very nice and quality is good as well, it's just the colour which I can't stand at the minute, it's just to dark way to dark...

What caps did you ordered?? are they 58 or 60mm ???

I'm in the hunt for some new caps as we speak to match new finish, but nothing in that colour, grey ones are to bright, black ones may look odd so trying to get hold off some sliver/chrome ones.

I dropped my wheels off with the powder coaters before my trip to norway 4 weeks ago, picked them up the other day but they had forgot to do the centre caps when the wheels were done so I have nice looking wheels and no centre caps at the mo

I have eventually managed to find an image that shows how the alloys should look. Hopefully it shows up ok. I think the black looks better than the grey on these wheels - for me the grey makes them look a little dirty while the black slims down the spokes. IMHO anyway..... I have also added a pic showing the standard grey.

I have also found a good site with what looks like virtually every audi centre cap.
