Reviving old thread and offering my 4D0863476C for sale. I kept mine when sent off my S8 to forum sponsors as I thought if the right D2 came up for sale with LPG I might buy another one and find a good use for this but now having bought D3 it's very unlikely I will get another D2 anytime soon so I am offering it for sale.

Not sure about the price as it's such a rare item, I paid between £40-50 for it in 2014 and I feel like it has only appreciated over time Only ones I see for sale currently are $178 in USA but there are some that have recently sold in Germany for as little as EUR25.

Inspired by MJ's recent floor mat offer I will also be accepting sealed bids in private messages. Highest bid by 23:59 on Monday 10/02/2020 gets it. speaking of MJ's floor mats I will also have a set available, just need to clean them before offering.

My FL S8 has the small vertical "thing" that should fit in with lugs but is actually screwed in due to some lugs being broken.
It looks fine but it's a pain to get the battery cover on and off to attach the battery optimiser without having a screwdriver to hand.

Does anyone know if this part is just a simple replacement for the vertical "thing" and will fit in any FL D2 in that location?

TIA

It sure is, exactly what I have done. You might need to cut some slots for its locating lugs though, I can't recall now exactly what was needed.

Though there is a simple fix for missing/broken lugs on that small panel, enabling it to slot in as intended. (I'll describe it tomorrow)

Yes, it's a straight replacement. It has a 2 tabs at the bottom and a latch on top. If you have the small trim you most likely do not have the holes in trim at the bottom and would ideally need to cut them but I used it without cutting any holes without any issues.

I did cut the slots for the bottom tabs as I store some potentially heavy items behind that panel.

As for fixing the small, low panel, I just used small round-head screws to replace the broken-off parts of the lugs. You fix them so that the head is hanging down at about 30 degrees off vertical so as to slide into the slots in the main trim panel.

You will need pretty small screws, just big enough for the head to go through the slot with a little pressure and equally come out without excessive force when pulled up. I had several small chromed ones with a fairly sharp tip that did the job, can't recall the size but maybe about 10mm long? Similar to the attached pictures but a bit slimmer?
You need to make a small pilot hole going upwards into the stub of the broken lugs.

Not sure how I missed this thread, but it was I who bought the panel with a bump in from A8 Parts some time ago. It also came with a special ‘floor panel’ that fits over the battery and extends under the little short panel (which I left in place) and has the slots for the 2 lugs. I’ll take a photo when storm Ciara blows over.

Six years since I got mine! http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showpost....54&postcount=2

I didn't bother with buying the different slotted carpet panel, it was easy enough to cut the required slots in the original (which as I have a standard battery is a complete battery cover).

Simple enough to cut these with a dremel or similar.

The holes for the upper catch are already there.
