Default rear parking camera

just for people installing a rear camera this one looks like a direct fit.
I purchased one of ebay and I had to spend a couple of hours with a dremmel to make it fit don't like the non oem looks so this looks good.

Good find. I've been there with the generic Dremel type thing wondering why things can't ever be simple with Audi.

Pretty sure the car needs to have a TV Tuner to display the output on the MMI Screen. The Parking Sensor Module might also needed to be changed to enable the camera display when you select Reverse but it may be just coding to enable this function.

Much easier if you have a TV tuner in the boot. Without you need an interface, like this:

And to wire it all in behind the glovebox before the MMI, like I did.

Those cameras are seriously cheap if they are any good. Interface makes it expensive if you don't have a Tuner.
Would it make any sense to buy a 2nd hand Tuner instead ?

The OEM TV's send an analogue signal down a coax to the front to the MMI Control head. So you would still need an MMI control head with the FBAS connection to add the OEM TV module. Non-TV and non-RVC A8's don't have this connection on the MMI control head. The Control Head has component protection so if swapped this would need to be removed by the dealer, to add further costs. John's method is best as his module sits between his existing MMI control head and the screen... Actually this is not so dissimilar to the Japanese spec A8 as they have an LVDS switch at the same location to switch for the Jap spec sat nav.
