Default Key Fob Chewed

Need some help the title says it all really
My 8's fob has been molested by our Puppy Damn dog has chewed my shoes too!
I have all the bits but the fob doesnt work now and having taken it apart some of the inside electrics have seen better days!
My 8 has the advanced key with keyless go and the finger print thingy.
Whats the best solution is it an expensive trip to the dealers?
I have read conflicting things and reports about re-programming the fobs listed on the bay having spent the last hour searching. I have the blade which I assume could be refitted to a new key?
Luckily I have a spare so am still mobile but want to get a second one for safety.
Any help or pointers or links to buy the right part etc.
Much appreciated
Cheers
Glyn

Not sure what's needed to re-code a D3 to accept a new key, if it can be done with VCDS or not.

Car key is probably the only thing our puppy didn't chew

She certainly is trying everything she can !
Found a fob on eBay which looks identical but I am concerned about the linking to the car I have read they can only be linked to one car but others say this is not the case
Best go and kick the dogs out before bedtime and make sure I have left nothing lying around
Cheers

Anyone have any experience on these fobs and replacing them ??
Will ring the local dealer today for a price but will make sure I am sitting down first as always!

Bit of an update
Took the car and key to an Auto key specialist near Bham
They told me the key is definately not the normal Audi key and it appears to have two transponders in. Their gear could read the one and get the passcode but the other was effectively passworded (or similar). He had all the kit to deal with re-coding and whilst I was there recovery trucks were dropping off cars where owners were stranded with malfunctioning keys/fobs etc .

I mentioned the Ebay listings for 2nd hand keys and he told me that there currently isn't any software that will re write the codes and they are coded on a one time only basis to the vehicle. When there is software available for this he said he has a draw full of keys which he will be able to shift!

They said the only way is to go to the dealers for the replacement which they said is ordered directly from VAG

Very helpful chaps though and he tried everything to help.
For info Audi want £165 for the key/fob and another £60 to program it. Inclusive of the VAT
I still have the plastic emergency key as well as my normal spare which I am using so this may wait

I too have been looking at getting a secondary key fob. My D3 also has the keyless feature. I have called auto locksmiths all over the midlands and they all have said the same thing. Traditional fobs with an immobiliser transponder are no problem. It's the whole keyless entry thing that is an issue. Looks like the only option is the stealers for this type of fob.
