Fuel range tends to be a bit of an issue as the tank isn't exactly massive - we don't tend to go much over 200 miles before looking for a fill up!

I've got VCDS here if yours won't talk to it to make coding changes

Several dead easy ways to tell whether nav is HDD or DVD:

tech pack low (DVD) has a x6 disc CD changer in the dash
DVD drive for the nav disc is (I think) behind the left cover in the boot (I may be making this up!)
The main wheel for clicking through settings doesn't have a small joystick on top

Tech pack high (HDD nav) has a DVD drive (single) in the dash and x2 SD card slots behind a flap
Jukebox appears as an option under media source (you can upload music to the internal HDD)
Main wheel has the small joystick on top for moving around the map image.

There are other tell-tales, but those are the easy ones!

I thought it was quaint that I had a couple of SD cards slots, but it now looks like I have moved up from poverty-spec to high-flyer with a Tech Pack High offering! Single DVD slot, aforementioned SD cards slots behind a flap and that spinny clicky wheel.

I've managed to misplace my dongle so I'll have a ferret around in the A8L tomorrow after work and see how it goes. I think the OBD Eleven dongle was really designed to support later cars and I was restricted in what I could do on the A8L - still, I managed to re-code the gearbox and the door-locking engagement at 15mph... Connected it to my mate's Golf and there were eleventy-million options in comparison so let's see what happens.

Thanks as always for the friendly and detailed support Adrian, I appreciate it.
