Output shaft leak

Hi all.

I’ve had the common gearbox output shaft leak on to the cat. I had the seal replaced by a local trusted garage and it still appears to be leaking. There’s a couple of great sticky’s about this issue and I can see there are 2 seals, one for the updated flange and one for the oe version.

If an updated seal was fitted to an old/original flange, would it possibly leak? What was actually updated on the flange?
