So... discussion point: how much is it worth to host a miner at my place?
Its always cold, even in the summer and I wouldn't mind some extra heat. I have plenty of space to build a server room where the noise isn't an issue. Electricity is 14p a unit unfortunately, but I do have 120KW of it. I'd already have some miners in there had I not spent all my money on D2s! |

Is there any chance you could shop around for your own electricity supplier for better price instead of using your landlords who probably have not changed it for years? I would assume as business user you could get under 10p. Just to give some ideas there are some data centres in/near London that offer S9 hosting for £210/month which is a bit too much for me, my costs to run S9 is about £110/month and I would be happy to pay £150 for it to be somewhere else but at your costs it will be £150 just for electricity. I was looking at locating some at my mother in law's house in Latvia but electricity is more expensive there but might consider brother in law in Russia.

In another news I overclocked A3 to make most of it as the profitability is dropping. It did not quite make 20% overclock some are reporting, only about 12.5% but still OK, it's only about £1/day extra after extra electricity costs but every little helps like certain supermarket says. Sia does seem like a good coin with a lot of future and undervalued for now so I am just hoarding coins and keeping them. ATM you can buy 1TB storage on Sia network for about $0.60/month comparing to £7.99 on Microsoft One Drive for example. They just need to increase PR and the costs and coin value will go up coupled with the mining difficulty.

Unfortunately I can't get a better deal as its technically one building with one incoming meter. Its then split off to the various tenants on our own meters. There is an off-peak supply board but its not in use so I'm not sure whether I can make use of that. It is annoyingly expensive - I pay 13p at home, which is still expensive compared to yours.
I will have a word with the landlord and see if there's anything we can do. |

That's the slowest of 2 they have announced but they just keep announcing new miners but have still to ship any. Their first miner T1 or I think it was called T16 at the start was supposed to ship beginning of March but nobody has received any yet so it remains to be seen if they can deliver.
As for Eth miner I understand it would be quite expensive to create ASIC because you need at least 4GB RAM for DAG file and realistically 8GB for futureproofing. You cannot just connect hundreds of ASIC chips to that memory because couple chips would consume the available bandwith. So really you will need like 100 lots of 8GB which would be 800 8Gb memory chips. With the memory shortage and rising prices memory alone would cost $7-10k, add on other costs, R&D and profit margin you would be looking at least $20k for a miner that does hashrate of 100x RX580 cards. It's not too bad considering that 100 cards would cost more than $30k. But who would buy such a miner with Ethereum set to change from PoW to PoS. So unless cheaper, faster memory becomes available I do not see it happening. There are some custom miners for Eth like Antminer G1 and G2 but they are not ASICS, it's just a custom motherboard using low power mobile PC components and 8x RX570 or GTX1060 cards in it.

That ducting is huge. I stuck with 100mm, mainly because 100mm ducting adaptors were readily available for Anminers. I like how you've made the ducting so much prettier though, by tying it up with red ribbons and bows ... I just used back cable ties. Quote:
Alternatively, if you're willing to take the ROI risk, you could buy a few S9s yourself and rent them out. When they've eventually paid for themselves, hopefully in around 12 months or less, all the profit is yours.

I don't think I have posted picture of this before. It's Antminer L3+ with modified firmware that lets me overclock each board separately so that i can overclock 3 of the better boards and it also lets it run without fans. It is running aboout 620MH/s with 1000W power consumption and 1.5% devfee for custom firmware. It is in my understairs cupboard. There is air intake at the bottom of cupboard dorr and it is blowing warm air out in kitche/dining room keeping them warm. Thge downside is chocolate meting in top shelves in kitchen cupboards. Easter bunny looks like gravity got better of him.
