Hi all

Anyone in the Herts/beds/bucks got a fault code reader they could plug into the old girl so I can get some codes and work out what's up with the S8? Pint of lager in it for anyone who can help 😀

Many thanks

Mossy

You are going to Drink Whiskey at 11am tomorrow? lol

I also have VAG-COM

If its of interest to both of you, we have a mini-meet in Milton Keynes tomorrow night from 6:30pm, these are the details:

Weds 7th June, 6:30pm onwards at Ye Olde Swan, Woughton on the Green, Milton Keynes, just off the A421.

Posting this a bit earlier than normal, day off today, hence having an admin day! As more than one person has tried to arrive a week early over the course of the last year, please note the meet is Weds 7th June - NOT the Weds in the week of the the bank holiday / half term / last day in May.

Our new home is Ye Olde Swan - bags of outside seating for the summer, a cosy 16th century core (no Disney windmills here!) plus most importantly great food! Good turn out in April + May in the welcome daylight following the clocks changing, nice variety of cars, a good showing of quattro Audi Avants in May. Table already booked for 10 people @ 7:30pm, number required before the night, hence the roll call below....

6:30pm onwards, any enthusiast welcome, not just VAG and / or Porsche! Usual suspects please post your interest, potential MK meet newbies please post below so we can look out and welcome you - even more so given the new venue! The meet is posted on RS246, Audi SRS, the S2 Forum and TSN.

Ye Olde Swan
Newport Road
Woughton on the Green
Milton Keynes
Buckinghamshire

The bit highlighted in red on the second map is the road through the pub - you can access from both ends. Congregate at the north end of the car park, the four spaces by the red arrow are the biggest for A8s + RS6s etc. Forgot to take pics last meet sorry - archive pic from June 2007 showing the variety of attendees! And three of those cars are still with their respective owners 10 years on!

I've been to a few MK Wednesday evening meets, but it doesn't usually fit well with my weekday diary so I've never stayed to eat.

Commercial finance analyst - been here for just over 7 years now.

Love the brands we produce. If you get a chance, try the Glenfiddich 15 from our Solera VAT. It's probably my favourite. The notes are incredible!

It's plausible that the 01119 error is suggesting a failing F125 switch but the main obvious problem is a very rattly catalyst!

Mossyboy is calling in to be scanned and hopefully barzya8 will arrive too to collect the Nokia 6310i that he needs. :cool:Quite busy on my road with 3 S8's together.

Also recoded barzya8's central locking module to match mine.
He had been on 15179 which didn't actually make much sense but was partly working.
Mine (and his now) is on 14315 which does what I want and appears (after testing) to do what he wants as well.

Just to clarify my code of 14315, which was arrived at after a fair bit of experimentation long ago.....
It's basically everything ON except:
4 (drivers door only with key blade),
512 (single flash confirm on radio lock),
2048 (US window logic, operation disabled with doors open) and
16384 (drivers door only with remote).

Big thanks to HPSauce for the VCDS lesson. Have already shared with David down at DS Autowerks and initial response on the misfires is a faulty air flow meter. Will update once he gets back to me with a clearer view.

Glad to be able to help. How did the car behave on the return journey?
Remember you will need to do another scan to confirm the engine problems; I don't think I cleared the codes properly before you went for a "spin" after the first scan, but I think I did after the second look but only ran the engine for a few seconds then?

You really should invest in VCDS, assuming you have a suitable laptop, as it puts you in control with so much more information. It really is essential on these cars.

Car was perfect on the way back. Behaved much better than on the way there. Yes I'm going to look into VCDS but given I'm about invest in new MAF sensor, 4x new tyres and 2x refurbished cats I'm going to leave it a week or two....

HPsauce

Fair enough, but make sure the MAF is tested before assuming that's a problem. With VCDS (and other tools) you can check/log the readings.

Also, if your F125 switch is playing up you can get very odd behaviour as the ECU's don't know what gear you're in.

OK will do. Just out of interest how easy is it to replace the MAF? Job for the home mechanic or novice?

Changing MAF is a doddle, I've swapped mine several times while testing problems.

Bit of big air trunking and related stuff to remove, handful (or less) of screws, that's about it. And a wiring plug.

I have a spare one you could swap in on a temporary basis to see if it changes anything.
