Are these ok to fit on the D2 with 18x8 RS4 reps?

Just thinking of a winter set.

You could put them on as long as all are the same size but not recommended, normal size for 18" is 245/45R18. 225/40/R18 would be 6% smaller this would result in higher speedo reading, better acceleration, worse fuel economy and lower car plus I do not think they would look any good. For winter wheels narrower are better but You should look for higher not lower profile tyres. 225/50R18 would be good choice, maybe even 225/55R18 for increased ground clearance in winter but that would give lower speedo reading.

hi steve, the correct size for an 18 inch wheel is 245 x 45 x 18
if you fit 225 x 40 x 18's then you would need to fit the same all around or the quattro wont cope with the difference. also your speedo will read 6% faster than youre actually doing which is quite a bit (it will say 60mph at 56.4mph)

Cheers guys, I would be fitting new tyres to them anyway to run in winter.
So was just looking to see if I could run with the 225's.

I see Camskill do a 60.

60 might be bit too much and speedo would read 7.3% slower

Yeah, I just checked that too. Does seem a tad on the large side. The arches may be in for some rubbing too with that.

225 x 50 x 18 will give you closest match to the 245 x 45 x 18
its only 0.7% too slow and very close rolling radius wise +++

Looks like I'm going to pass on the wheels I was looking at, they were going pretty cheap on a local VW forum.
I had a look for winter tyres to go with a matching rolling circumference and was not impressed with the lack of choice, with that goes a higher price.

Still, plenty of time before the snow arrives....................................

You could get 17" with 225/55/R17 for winter should be cheaper and easier to get but not sure if they will fit over S8 brakes maybe somebody else can comment on that.

Did think on that but as you say, they wont fit over the brakes.

Might want to have a look at these - my old winter wheels and almost new tyres http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2812

I had 225 40 18's on my A for a while, say 25k miles speedo as stated was way out but i sat nav so after a while you get to knowing how fast you're relly going. Disadvantage is you colck up more miles than you've actually travelled.
Not had any quatrro issues (as yet) That said i have fitted 245 45 18's for a while now and the comfort level is far better. 40 profile of 225 is way too small pot holes and bumps are a mightmare. Cost me 3 cracked RS4 replicas and top arms took a hammering. Quick off the mark tho.
