I have had a guy come and price up a windscreen
Supplied and fitted but he has said I need a surround that's nearly
£200. Is this correct?
Can I not reuse the old one?

Many thanks.

Cost is correct. Maybe even more with VAT. It's backorder from Germany, so 2 weeks to wait.

Old one can be reused no problem.

They always get corroded due to poor painting when manufactured.

So as long as the window man is careful taking old one off
It can be reused?

Thanks

Correct.

I would call someone else though as the guy doesn't know what he's doing.

I recently had this done by autoglass I believe or auto windscreens....anyway had it done under insurance and only cost 70 pound excess.

I was really impressed....the guy pulled out a tool which allowed him to pull the screen out in one piece....told me it was the company patented tool...(true or false I don't know) ....point is he did a good job without any issues.

I would get a second quote at least

Had mine replaced last week. £75 excess and this was with Admiral insurance. Company was auto glass/ windscreens or something.

Did an excellent job and primed all as required. New screen fitted to a better standard than before and reused all the trims.
