View Full Version : Heat and Parking Sensors

Over the last few weeks of hot weather the rear parking sensors have been playing up - the sensors only work about 20% of the time.

Now it's started to cool down the sensors seem to be behaving themselves.

The car often sits unused for a few days parked by the side of the house with the rear of the car facing directly south (and getting the full glare of the sun).

Could the heat be the source of the problem or is it coincidental?

I'd be tempted to scan it with VCDS, see if a sensor or 2 is throwing up an error and check it out.

It could be the sensor breaking down and the sun is just making it worse.

Well the parking sensor module is in the boot below the CD player etc and so may well suffer from heat exhaustion. Being in Scotland I had the opposite problem - when the temperature was below 5degC it would sound off randomly when manoeuvring at low speed.

Could be a dry joint in the control module. Or a slightly loose connector.
