A fellow enthusiast has pointed me to a switch under the accelerator that apparently makes the gearbox go into hooligan mode . I've got a 4.2 pf d2 any ideas , true /false , do it avoid it etc etc

its just the kickdown switch so the car drops a couple of cogs if you put the throttle on the floor

Activate it. Great for saving your life in a mis-judged overtake

Many people have been unaware of this, but once discovered everyone seems to turn it on.

Can't offhand recall which direction is on, but if you can press it down by hand (firmly) and it clicks it's on.

The PF cable-throttle cars didn't have this, kickdown was activated automatically at full or near-full throttle. It seems very weird to require a physical kickdown switch on a fly-by-wire throttle but that's the way it is!

here is a switch on PF but it is at the throttle body and because throttle body and pedal are not physically connected they had to move switch to the pedal on FL cars.
