OK, so now I'm seriously confused. Before and after look like different engines....

Same engine but the timing belt covers are off, power steering pump and coil pack are on in the before pic. The after pic has the timing belt covers and aux belt tensioner on, but no power steering pump, coil pack, or dirt :)

This is as far as I got today:

Very slow going because the V6 is so damn fiddly down the back of the engine. Oh, and the oil cooler hose I contrived from the big box of hoses didn't clear the AC compressor so I need to do some more thinking about that.

Fascinating thread, beautifully explained and illustrated. I actually find it gratifying seeing that car reborn anew. I imaging it must be very satisfying to bring about such a positive transformation. Well done MJ

Just when I thought that I couldn't be more impressed.
That "after" picture looks beautiful.
It looks like a new engine in a new engine bay

MJ,
There is only one problem with a good thread like this, the job is finally finished and we are down in the doldrums 'cos there's nothing left to look forward to.
Ignore me I'm only a grumpy old git!!
Had a great few hours yesterday at the Wigan Model Railway show. SWMBO let me go on my own, best £10's for a long time.
Oh and on Saturday took a triaxle to Skipton on a day trip, made my day when one of the old ladies said "Thank you, it was lovely having a nice young man as a driver". She was ten years younger than me!!!!
