Yesterday I was "messing around" taking the RNS out and while I was at it took the drivers knee panel off and "liberated" the receiver from the useless location in the recess at the back of the instruments. Looking around I decided to try the lower dashboard between the steering column and RNS, immediately left of the steering column, a few inches below the left side of instrument cluster and immediately above the knee panel. The material there looks like reinforced cardboard with a thin plastic coating and there's actually very little of anything nearby. And this morning I have my little red aerial symbol back. |
I can't recall - do you have a heated screen? Hope to get on to mine this side of Xmas so I'm following this thread with interest!

No heated screen, and I already knew that it worked intermittently in the storage tray in the lower right of the drivers knee panel.
I'll still try and mount it somewhere higher in due course, but only when I'm doing something else that provides access. Though I do need to make the current temporary fixing a bit more secure once I'm convinced it's OK long-term. |
Nice of you to do all this investigational work on my behalf! :)

Of what, where it is or just the symbol?
At present it's stuck in place (double-sided foam) behind the lower part of that curved grey plastic panel lower centre of the picture. i.e. between RNS and steering column, about 5cm below the instruments "check" button, immediately above the leather knee panel. The cable is just slung across below the steering column, as it's foam-wrapped it's silent. |
Of exactly where it is... Or did you already put the knee panel back on?
