Comparing new with used. Thinking of:

Audi Q3 model 2019
Porsche Cayenne 3 years old
Porsche Macan 3 years old

Only Petrol models and only with ACC.

Suggest please cars with very reliable engines and gearboxes suitable for long term ownership.

Will greatly appreciate all your advices

I am going to be looking very closely at Volvos next time around, they are coming out with some lovely looking cars at the moment, usually well specified and are not known for reliability problems that I am aware of

Good point Sarge.
Gwen only ever wanted Volvos.

Thanks Sarg and TC.
Love how Volvo’s look from outside. That lovely subtle elegance.
Inside and mechanically I looks like they are not quite yet stack up with zee Germans.
But it may be a good thing!
Love that Volvos are a bit more narrow than Germans, which helps with parking too.

I'm very happy with my little V40, though they're about to stop making them. You definitely can't get my 4WD version any more, they stopped a while back.
But the XC40 is a very presentable and practical replacement. +++

The interiors are at least equal to the germans IMHO, and the Bower & Wilkins is very nice too

In my personal opinion the interiors aren't quite up there on all models - I thought I was going to end up with an XC90 for the family runaround but the main reason for going with the Q7 in the end was the quality of the interior.

The XC90, lovely as it was, just felt a little cheap and plasticky on the inside compared to the Audi. The leather seats felt PVC-ish and the dash and plastics didn't look as well put together.

As an aside, the 4-cylinder engine was impressive for what it was, though nothing like the V6 I have!

I agree, the B&W is lovely :)

I’m now slowly getting into the car market after 9 years of ignoring it and learn quite a lot of interesting things.

Q7s are fantastic in latest design. They are not available with Petrol engines though. What idiot made that decision??
Only very old Q7s are available with petrol engines, and are also rare.
So, no Q7 for me unfortunately.

I’d love to see petrol Q7 one day with A8 tech instead of A6 tech and with a lovely high displacement atmospheric petrol engines. That will never happen though...

You can get Q7's with petrol....

.... just not in the UK....

Yes, very, very irritating.......

That's what Q8 is for if you do not need 7 seats. It's forced induction but at least you can have petrol

Or the D5 A8 has awesome tech, nice build quality and you can currently get it in a 3.0 TFsi Engine which is great,
with a 4.0T Twin Turbo Tfsi engine to follow
