I don't think we need to redo the entire road infrastructure, we need to educate both cyclists and drivers, drivers need to think outside the box and do the maths...

70kgs of skin, bone and carbon fibre bouncing off a 2 ton car doesn't take too much thought as to who will come off the worst.

I think it's safe to say there are bellends on bikes and bellends in cars, vans and trucks.

but not all can be tarred with the same brush, i now drive down the cycle paths to overtake cyclists in the road.

I love the Irish system, having driven almost 2000 miles there in the last 2 weeks what a great idea - hard shoulder lane as shown in the pic is used for all slower traffic, bikes and tractors or if a slow lorry is approached from behind by faster vehicles they just indicate left and move across to the hard shoulder lane until they are passed. If turning right across traffic then other vehicles don't get held up they just undertake the car turning as needed +++
